Čeľadice (until 1948 Slovak "Čalad" - until 1927 "Čalád"; Hungarian Család ) is a Slovak municipality in Okres Nitra and in Nitriansky kraj with 1034 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Žitavská pahorkatina hills (part of the Danube hills ), south of the Tribeč mountains , on both sides of the Čeľadinský creek (locally called Rabona ) in the Žitava catchment area . The center of the village is at an altitude of 170 m nm and is 16 kilometers from Nitra .
Neighboring municipalities are Kolíňany in the north, Beladice in the north-east and east, Malé Chyndice in the south-east, Klasov and Babindol in the south, Dolné Obdokovce in the south-west and Hosťová in the north-west.
history
Čeľadice was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1113 as Scala , as part of the territory of the Neutra Castle , which bordered directly on goods of the abbey on the Zobor . In 1312 there was a parish in the village. In 1316 the village belonged to a certain Georg von Gyarmat, in 1374 to the Családi and Ludányi families , in 1616 to the Forgách family and later to families such as Bacskády , Emódy , Hunyadi , Jánoky , Simányi and others. In 1715 Čeľadice owned some vineyards and had 10 households, in 1828 there were 59 houses and 411 residents who were employed as farmers and unskilled workers.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Čeľadice had 914 inhabitants, including 878 Slovaks , nine Magyars , four Czechs , two Ukrainians and one Pole . 20 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
776 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, four residents to the Pentecostal movement, three residents to the Greek Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one to the Orthodox Church; eight residents professed a different denomination. 63 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 56 inhabitants was not determined.
