Hosťová (until 1948 Slovak "Gesť"; Hungarian Nyitrageszte - until 1907 Geszte ) is a Slovak town in Okres Nitra and Nitriansky kraj with 389 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The municipality is located in the Žitavská pahorkatina (part of the Danube hills ) at the source of the Hosťovský creek , which flows into the Žitava in Vráble . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 197 m nm and is eleven kilometers east of Nitra .
history
Hosťová was first mentioned in writing in 1232 as Guesta .
From 1976 to 1990 Hosťová was part of the Pohranice municipality .
Residents
According to the 2011 census, 361 inhabitants lived in Hosťová, including 242 Magyars, 117 Slovaks and one Jew. One resident did not provide any information. 344 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Reformed Church and one resident to the Apostolic Church; one resident was of a different denomination. Eight residents were non-denominational and the denomination of five residents has not been determined.
