history
Jarok was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1113 in the Zobor documents as Erig and was at that time the property of the Zobor Abbey. After 1363 the diocese of Neutra was the long-term owner. During the Turkish Wars, the place was visited several times, such as in 1601 when it was burned down. After the First World War, large church properties were partially parceled out and completely confiscated by the state in 1948.
In 1948 the place was renamed Jarok (which also means "gutter" or "little stream") for national political reasons. The old form of the name has been preserved in the vernacular Íreg to this day .
