Čechynce (until 1927 Slovak "Čehince" or "Čahynce"; Hungarian Nyitracsehi - until 1907 Csehi ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,259 (December 31, 2019), which for Nitra District , part of the Nitriansky kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the Danube Hills , more precisely its lower part Žitavská pahorkatina , on the left bank of the Nitra . The town center is at an altitude of 133 m nm and is 10 kilometers southeast of Nitra .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1248 as Cheg and at that time belonged to Neutra Castle as their estate. King Matthias Corvinus gave the place to the Labatlán family . In 1477 the Gran chapter acquired the place and kept it until 1918. In 1784 there are 285 inhabitants. In addition to agriculture and beekeeping, viticulture has also been important since the 16th century.
1960–1990 Čechynce was merged with the neighboring town of Malý Cetín in the municipality of Nitrany.
