Dolné Lefantovce (German Unterelefant , Hungarian Alsóelefánt ) is a Slovak municipality in Okres Nitra and Nitriansky kraj with 703 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The village is located on the western slope of the Tribeč Mountains in the middle Nitra Valley . The center of the village is at an altitude of 154 m nm and is 19 kilometers from Nitra .
Neighboring municipalities are Horné Lefantovce in the north and east, Bádice in the south, Výčapy-Opatovce in the south-west, Koniarovce in the west and Hrušovany in the north-west.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1113 as an elephant and as a separate place in 1332 as an Elephanth Inferior and was owned by the Elefánt family , later the Bartakovich , Forgách , Pongrácy and others, as well as part of the Pauline monastery in Horné Lefantovce. In 1421 the village received market rights. In 1828 there were 57 houses and 399 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
From 1976 to 2002 Dolné Lefantovce was together with Horné Lefantovce part of the unified municipality Lefantovce.

According to the 2011 census, Dolné Lefantovce had 528 inhabitants, including 518 Slovaks and one Czech . Nine residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .
479 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, six residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one to the Jewish community. 24 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 17 residents was not determined.
