Malý Lapáš (Hungarian Kislapás ) is a Slovak municipality in Okres Nitra and Nitriansky kraj with 1074 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
geography
The village is located in the western part of the Žitavská pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ) on the middle course of the Kadaň brook . The center of the village is at an altitude of 170 m nm and is nine kilometers from Nitra .
Neighboring municipalities are Pohranice in the north, Dolné Obdokovce in the east, Veľký Lapáš in the south, Nitra in the west and Nitrianske Hrnčiarovce in the northwest.
history
The place was created by the division of aristocratic estates in neighboring Veľký Lapáš and was first mentioned in writing in 1474 as Kyslapas . From the first Turkish invasion of the area until the beginning of the 17th century, the village was tributary to the Ottoman Empire. At that time there were 10 houses. In the 18th century in Malý Lapáš lived six nobles to let Count Jánoky in the district Jáger a country castle building. In 1787 there were 36 houses and 212 inhabitants in the agricultural town.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1924-25 and 1927-28, a large part of the land owned by the large estate owners was parceled out, but it wasn't until 1945 that Count Jánoky's remaining possessions were nationalized and parceled out.
From 1960 to 1990 Malý Lapáš was together with Ve derký Lapáš part of the unified municipality Lapáš.

According to the 2011 census, there were 539 inhabitants in Malý Lapáš, of which 516 were Slovaks , 11 Magyars and 2 Czechs . 10 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
460 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 4 residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Evangelical Church AB and the Reformed Church, 2 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and one resident to the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; 5 residents professed a different denomination. 26 residents had no denomination and 33 residents had no denomination.
