Čakajovce (Hungarian Csekej ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,161 (December 31, 2019). It is located in Okres Nitra , a district of Nitriansky kraj .
geography
Čakajovce is located in the Danube Hills on the left bank of the Nitra River , with the eastern foothills of the Tribeč Mountains . The town center, at an altitude of 146 m nm , is eight kilometers north of the city of Nitra .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Seka in 1156 . In the High Middle Ages, Čakajovce was a fishing village under the Neutra Castle . Since the 16th century the place belonged to the Diocese of Neutra .
After 1918, the place in Neutra County and part of the Kingdom of Hungary came to Czechoslovakia, and in 1993 to Slovakia.
