Alekšince (German Alaxinetz , Hungarian Elecske ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,669 (December 31, 2019), which for Nitra District , part of the Nitriansky kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ) on the middle course of the Andač brook , which is part of the Nitra river system . The little more than 15 km² large municipal area is deforested and covered by black and brown soils. The center of the village is at an altitude of 160 m nm and is 15 kilometers from Hlohovec and Nitra .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1156 as Alexu and initially belonged to the estate of the Neutra Castle , then to noblemen from different families. In 1601 the village was burned down by the Turks and in 1664 had to pay tribute to them. In 1828 there were 72 houses and 509 inhabitants who were mainly employed in agriculture.
