Golianovo (Slovak 1927-1948 "Lapašské Ďarmoty" - to 1927 "Lapáš Ďarmoty"; Hungarian Lapásgyarmat ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,850 (December 31, 2019), which for Nitra District , part of the Nitriansky kraj belongs .
geography
The municipality is located in the Danube hill country , more precisely its lower part Žitavská pahorkatina . The municipal area of almost 11 km² is slightly hilly. The center of the village is at an altitude of 149 m nm and is 10 kilometers southeast of Nitra .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1156 as Gurmot . In 1784 there are 74 houses and 486 inhabitants who were engaged in linen weaving and viticulture in addition to agriculture.
In 1948 the place was renamed Golianovo for national political reasons in honor of the Slovak Brigadier General Ján Golian .
