Nitrianske Hrnčiarovce is located in the Danube hill country , more precisely in the lower part of Žitavská pahorkatina ( Žitava hill country) at the foot of the Tribeč mountains . The mountain Zobor ( 587 m nm ) rises to the northwest of the municipality . The center of the village is only about five kilometers from Nitra .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1113 as Grincha and developed as a place in the shadow of the neighboring city of Neutra. In the early Middle Ages it served Neutra Castle , in the 12th to 15th centuries it belonged to the Zobor Abbey, then it was divided between the Gran and Neutra chapters. The parish is recorded for the first time in 1216. In the 16th and 17th centuries the place was affected by the Ottomans several times, for example in 1576. In 1828 the place had 82 houses and 557 inhabitants.
The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then became part of Czechoslovakia . In 1974 the place was incorporated into the city of Nitra, but got its status as a municipality back in 1990 after a referendum.
The place Malanta south of the main town was mentioned for the first time in 1113 as Molunta . In the 14th century Malanta was divided into an upper and a lower part. Both places were completely destroyed during the Turkish wars. Until they were incorporated into today's municipality in 1863, both places had only about 50 inhabitants each.
