Kolíňany (until 1948 Slovak "Koleňany"; Hungarian colon ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,549 (December 31, 2019), which for Nitra District , part of the Nitriansky kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located at the transition from the Danube hill country to one of the foothills of the Tribeč Mountains . The Bocegaj brook flowing through the village feeds the small Kolíňany reservoir below the village. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 199 m nm and is eleven kilometers from Nitra .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1113 in the Zobor documents as Colin and the parish belonging to it in 1156. After 1253 the village belonged to various nobles. In 1828 there are 111 houses and 772 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and lime kilns. Viticulture is also important.
