Bamberger Mühle , also called Kahlmühle , is a hamlet between Kleinkahl and Wiesen in the upper Kahlgrund in the Aschaffenburg district in Lower Franconia .

geography

Bamberger mill located on the district of Edelbach directly with the Kahl sources , on the national road 2305 between the glassworks and meadows. The Marienkapelle is to the southwest at the Kahlquelle . The Kahltal-Spessart cycle path leads through Bamberg Mill . The young Kahl flows on the edge of the road and partly piped through the village.

Surname

It is not known exactly where the name Bamberger Mühle actually comes from. Three explanations are given:

  • The name is derived from the Franconian counts of the Babenbergs , who might have owned the mill once.
  • A former mill owner could be a teacher and historian who died in Wiesen in 1731 and was born in Bamberg . Because according to the Mainz description of goods from 1699 he had to pay 20 guilders to the Mainz state .
  • A third possibility is that the Kahlgründer used to localize the building like this: "The mill ba'm (near) the mountain".

The place is called Bommbercher Mühl in the Kahlgründer dialect .

history

The mill wheel in 2019

The Kahlmühle stood just a few steps below the springs around 1850. It consisted of an oil mill and a flour mill . At the time it was powered by two overshot water wheels . The oil mill was later shut down and the grain mill was converted into a cutting mill.

Milling was done for the residents of meadows. Later the mill was converted into a modern inn and guesthouse. The first trout pond on the Kahl was built there around 1920. The old water wheel with a diameter of four meters stood still for years. In 1985 it was renewed. The entire hamlet is used for recreation today.

With the community edict of 1818 , the Kahlmühle came to the community of Wiesen . In 1862 the district office Lohr am Main was formed, on whose administrative area the Kahlmühle was located. In 1939, as everywhere in the German Reich, the designation district was introduced. The Kahlmühle now belonged to the district of Lohr am Main (license plate LOH). With the dissolution of the district of Lohr, in the course of the Bavarian regional reform in 1972, a large part of the communities was added to the current district of Main-Spessart . However, the Kahlmühle came to the newly formed district of Aschaffenburg (license plate AB) and on January 1, 1976 became part of the municipality of Kleinkahl.
