Barakat Mubarak al-Harthi ( Arabic بركات مبارك الحارثي; * June 15, 1988 in Ibra ) is an Omani sprinter .

Athletic career

Barakat Mubarak al-Harthi gained his first international experience in 2009 at the Pan-Arab Championships in Damas , where he won the bronze medal in the 100-meter run. He then took part in the World Championships in Berlin , but dropped out there in the preliminary round . Before that, he finished fifth at the Asian Championships in Guangzhou over 100 meters and eighth in the Omani 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2010 he won the silver medal over 60 meters at the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran . He then qualified for the World Indoor Championships inDoha , where he made it to the semi-finals. In the open-air season he won the bronze medal over 100 meters at the Asian Games in Guangzhou and seventh place with the Omani relay. In 2011 he finished sixth at the Asian Championships in Kobe over 100 meters. In October he won the silver medal over 100 meters at the Pan-Arab Championships, but was then suspended until June 2012 for a doping offense.

After his suspension, al-Harthi qualified for the Olympic Games in London , where he was eliminated in the run over 100 meters. In 2013 he won the bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Pune and qualified for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated again in the preliminary round. At the Pan-Arab Games in Doha , he won the bronze medal over 100 meters. In 2014 he again took part in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , Poland , and once again reached the semifinals. At the Asian Games in Incheon , he was seventh over 100 and 200 meters. In 2015 he finished seventh over 100 meters at the Asian Championships in Wuhan, as well as with the Omani 4 x 100 meter relay. At his third World Championships in Beijing , he failed again in the preliminary round over 100 meters. At the Pan-Arab Games in Madinat Isa he won the silver medals in the 100 and 200 meters and at the Military World Games in Mungyeong the gold medal in the 100-meter run.

In 2016 Barakat al-Harthi qualified again for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated there over 100 meters in the first round . In 2017 he took fourth place over 60 meters at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat . At the Asian Indoor Championships in Tehran in 2018 , he finished fifth in this discipline. The following year he retired from the Asian Championships in Doha with 10.30 s in the semi-finals and won the bronze medal behind Thailand and Taiwan with the relay with a new national record of 39.36 s.

In 2009 he became the Omani champion in the 100-meter run.
