The men's 100-meter run at the 2009 World Athletics Championships took place on August 15 and 16, 2009 in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin , Germany .

91 sprinters from 69 countries took part in the competition. The gold medal went to Usain Bolt with a new world record in 9.58 s, silver went to Tyson Gay with 9.71 s and the bronze medal went to Asafa Powell with 9.84 s.
