Barbara and Michael Leisgen is a German artist couple, Barbara Leisgen (born August 18, 1940 in Gengenbach ; † April 24, 2017 in Aachen ) and Michael Leisgen (born March 30, 1944 in Spital am Pyhrn in Austria ).
Barbara Leisgen
Barbara Leisgen was born in Gengenbach in 1940 and studied from 1961 to 1967 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Horst Antes .
From 1991 to 2006 she was a professor at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris .
Michael Leisgen
Michael Leisgen was born in 1944 in Spital am Pyhrn in Austria. From 1965 to 1969 he studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe with Georg Meistermann .
Leisgen has been taking photos and making videos since 1970. In 1974 he received a work grant from the city of Aachen, in 1979 a work grant from the Kulturkreis Köln and in 1981 a work grant from the Stiftung Kunstfonds in Bonn , before he was finally taken on full-time as an art teacher at the Einhard-Gymnasium in Aachen, where he later also designed the new one Designed the facade of the school building.
life and work
Barbara and Michael Leisgen have been working together since 1970 and only exhibit together. The photographer duo has lived and worked in Aachen and Paris since 1970.
