Barnstorf is a district in the south of the city of Wolfsburg . The place is on the district road Nordsteimke – Heiligendorf.
geography
There are extensive forests to the northwest and southeast of the location. The town center is characterized by a village. To the east of it are extensive new development areas.
The Waldhof settlement, which consists of around 13 houses, belongs to Barnstorf . The forester's house, located a little south on the edge of the forest, was built in 1852, and has been privately inhabited since the forestry department was closed in 2004.
history
Barnstorf was first mentioned in a document in 1309, when the place came into the possession of Braunschweig-Lüneburg. Between 1428 and 1885 the place belonged to the Principality of Lüneburg.
On June 3, 1860, the school building, which today houses a kindergarten with around 20 places and a youth club, was opened. In 1934 a second classroom was added.
On July 1, 1972, Barnstorf, which comes from the Gifhorn district , was incorporated into the city of Wolfsburg in accordance with the Wolfsburg Act .
Waldhof
Waldhof was first mentioned in a document from 1669, with which Georg Wilhelm , Duke of Braunschweig-Lüneburg , leased Waldhoff Ambt Fallersleben to Henning Warneken from Neindorf . From 1850 to 1852 the former forester's house was built as the forester's house Barnstorfer Wald , it belonged to the Fallersleben Forestry Office . The formerly royal, later state domain Waldhof was incorporated into Barnstorf in 1928. Before that, Waldhof was a separate municipality, its mayor was the respective domain tenant. In 1935 the domain was relocated. In Waldhof there was a post office II , which was called Wolfsburg 33 after the incorporation into the city of Wolfsburg .

There is no church in Barnstorf. Barnstorf belongs to the evangelical St. Adrian parish in Heiligendorf , in Barnstorf church services are held in the cemetery chapel. The Catholics belong to the St. Christophorus Congregation in the Schillerteich district .
politics
Barnstorf and the neighboring district of Nordsteimke form the village of Barnstorf-Nordsteimke and are represented by a local council. Local mayor is Hans-Georg Bachmann ( SPD ) (as of December 2016).
