Neindorf is a district of the city of Wolfsburg . The village is located in the south of the Wolfsburg urban area in the agricultural area of ​​the Hasenwinkel .

history

Neindorf was first mentioned in a document from the Bishop of Halberstadt in 1197 as Neindorpe .

It was not until the 19th century that the local farmers achieved some prosperity by growing sugar beet . As a result, many new residential buildings, the so-called turnip castles , were built between 1905 and 1915 . In 1906 the cemetery chapel was built. In 1947 the allotment garden association Zum Feierabend was founded and existed until the end of 2017.

On July 1, 1972, Neindorf, which comes from the Gifhorn district , was incorporated into the city of Wolfsburg in accordance with the Wolfsburg Act . The former municipality had an area of ​​6.63 km².

On May 5, 2017, Federal Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel visited Neindorf and hammered the last nail in at the topping-out ceremony for the Neindorf children's home in his role as a member of the board of trustees of the Volkswagen Employee Foundation.
