Hehlingen is a town and at the same time a district in the southeast of the city of Wolfsburg .

history

Hehlingen was first mentioned in a document on August 9, 1122. In 1302 the parish of Hehlingen became independent. In 1723 and 1724 school and church books fell victim to a major fire. In 1858 which took place Separation of Feldmark . The Kyffhäuserkameradschaft was founded in 1878 and the Hehlingen men's choir in 1890. In 1910 there were 548 inhabitants in Hehlingen. In 1932, Hehlingen was detached from the Gardelegen district, province of Saxony, and assigned to the Gifhorn district, Hanover province. In 1969 the construction of an outdoor swimming pool began .

On July 1, 1972, in accordance with the Wolfsburg Act, the town, which comes from the Gifhorn district , was incorporated into the city of Wolfsburg.

Culture and sights

  • The St. Pankratius Church in Katthagen 2 was first mentioned in 1178. It received its current name in 2002.
  • In Katthagen 4 opposite the church is the half-timbered former sexton's house, which is a cultural monument and now serves as the parish hall.
  • The rectory at Katthagen 7, which was rebuilt after a fire at the end of the 19th century, is also a Wolfsburg cultural monument.

education

The only kindergarten in Hehlingen is the Hehlinger Kindergarten eV , it is run by a parents' association and is located in the building of the former elementary school in Hehlingen. The kindergarten goes back to a play and support group that was founded by two mothers in 1975 because there was no kindergarten in Hehlingen at the time. Since 1990 the facility has been called Hehlinger Kindergarten eV Today the kindergarten offers 65 places in one daycare and two kindergarten groups, the parents of the children are members of the sponsoring association.

The only school in Hehlingen, a primary school , is run today as a branch of the Hellwinkel School located in the Hellwinkel district.
