Bashar Matti Warda CSsR (born June 15, 1969 in Baghdad ) is an Iraqi clergyman and archbishop of the Chaldean Catholic Archepark Erbil , Kurdistan Region .

Life

Bashar Warda received after his theological training in the Chaldean Seminary of St. Peter in 1993 in Baghdad, the ordination . In 1995 he joined the Redemptorist Order in the Flemish Province and made his temporary profession in 1997 in Dundalk, Ireland. In 1999 he received his doctorate from the Catholic University of Leuven . In 2001 he became rector of Babel College of Theology and Philosophy in Iraq. In 2006 he became a regens of the Ankawa seminary. He is a professor at the Institute for Religious Studies in Baghdad and teaches moral theology at the Babel College of Theology and Philosophy in Iraq.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him archbishop of the Erbil Archepark in 2010. He was ordained bishop on July 3, 2010 by the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans , Emmanuel III. Cardinal Delly . Co- consecrators were Emil Shimoun Nona , Chaldean Archbishop of Mosul , Francis Assisi Chullikatt , Titular Archbishop of Ostra and Apostolic Nuncio in Jordan and Iraq , as well as the following Chaldean (arch) bishops: Jacques Ishaq , Titular Archbishop of Nisibis dei Chaldei , Louis Raphël , Archbishop of Kirkuk , Hanna Zora , Archbishop of Ahvaz , Shlemon Warduni , Titular Bishop of Anbar dei Caldei , Petros Hanna Issa Al-Harboli , Bishop of Zaku , Rabban al-Qas , Bishop of Amadiyah and Mikha Pola Maqdassi , Bishop of Alquoch .
