The Beijing Senova D80 is an upper mid-range sedan from Beijing Motor Corporation in the People's Republic of China . The brand is Beijing and the sub-brand is Senova . The manufacturer himself describes Senova as a series .

history

A preliminary study for the D80 series was still called the BAIC C90L as a concept car . The concept car was presented at the Beijing Motor Show , the "Auto China" of 2012. The Italian design company Fioravanti was involved in the design process of this early study. Obviously, numerous details of this design did not make it into series production.

The D80 series from the manufacturer " Beijing Auto " came onto the market in August 2015 and, with a body length of 4.94 meters, is in the upper middle class. The exterior design is largely an independent development by the manufacturer and is based on the exterior design of the Saab 9-5, which may have served as a source of inspiration. The chassis required as a base was given to the model in the form of a Chinese derivative of the chassis of the long version of the Mercedes-Benz 212 series (E-Class). The presentation of the new model took place at Auto Guangzhou in November 2014.

In terms of size, the model competed against the Hongqi H7 and Roewe 950 . The main target group were successful managers and business people from a well-off Chinese middle class. The vehicles of the D80 series were offered in an upscale price segment in the range from 204,800 to 268,800 yuan (Renminbi) (converted at the time between 30,310 and 39,780 US $). However, the model was not particularly successful on the market: a total of 227 vehicles of the model were built between August 2015 and November 2017. With the demolition of the Senova D80 series in November 2017, the production of the combustion models probably came to an end.

Different engines were available for the model:

a 1.8-liter in-line four-cylinder combustion engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger with 130.2 kW / 177 hp,
a 2.0-liter combustion engine with an exhaust gas turbocharger with 150 kW / 204 hp,
and a 2.3-liter V6 combustion engine with Exhaust gas turbocharger with 183.8 kW / 250 PS.

A manual transmission allegedly did not exist in the model range, instead a 7- speed automatic transmission was offered.

Electric version

EH300

In April 2017, a battery-powered version of the model called "Beijing Senova EH300 BEV" was launched. (The near-production prototype, which was presented at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2016 as a foretaste of the model, was still called "EH400 BEV", which unfortunately was changed at the last moment, which made it much more difficult to introduce the electric variant in the market at all.) The electric drive has a motor output of 100 kW / 136 PS, whose basic components include a traction battery with a charging capacity of 54.6 kWh. The charging time via the fast charger is three quarters of an hour. The maximum torque is given as 210 Newton meters. The top speed of the model is 141.7 km / h. A 10.1-inch touchscreen enables the integrated control of the air conditioning as well as the navigation system, as well as multimedia including the inclusion of smartphones, the rear view camera system, as well as the blind spot control. The price of the battery-powered version "EH300 BEV" (without extras) is estimated at 279,800 yuan.
