The Beijing Senova-D-series ( 绅宝 D 系列 ), respectively renamed Beijing Senova D70 in April 2014 , is a mid- range series that was manufactured for the Chinese market by Beijing Motor Corporation from February 2013 . The brand was Beijing and the sub-brand was Senova . The manufacturer himself describes Senova as a series .

history

Most models were up to 2012 on the level of the 1980s, which is why more and more customers are choosing a vehicle from a foreign brand. To counteract this loss, the Beijing Automobile Works bought the production facilities, tools and rights of use to the Saab 9-3 and the expired Saab 9-5 from the manufacturer Saab Automobile from General Motors .

In the development phase , the project was called BAIC C70G . It is the first car model from the Senova sub-brand. The transliteration of the Chinese characters 绅宝 (ShēnBǎo) stands for Saab and alludes to a technical relationship, as the model is based on the M-trix platform, a hybrid developed by BAIC between the GM2400, the GM2900 and the Epsilon. In one translation, the brand name reads “Schatz der Gentry ” and thus clarifies a high standard. The design of the D series comes from the Italian design office Fioravanti . In the advertising film "Town of car legends" which directed by Olivier Megaton arose occurs Nicolas Cage as a brand ambassador.

With the D series, the giant competes against the Mazda6 , the Hyundai Sonata and the Kia K5 .

Electric version

ES 210

BAW has announced the introduction of an electric version of the D70 for 2015. In fact, in December 2014 the battery-powered model variant “Beijing Senova ES210 BEV” was launched. Significant sales figures, however, only extend to the period from March 2015 to December 2016. The battery-electric drive consists of a permanent magnet synchronous machine with a maximum output of 80 kW (109 PS) at 9000 rpm, an electronic control system and a traction battery with an operating voltage of 358 V and a charging capacity of 106 Ah, which results in a total charging capacity of 37,948 Wh. The total nominal charging capacity of the traction battery is given as 38 kWh. The top speed is 130 km / h. The maximum range should be 200 km according to the Chinese test cycle "China specific drive cycle for emissions and fuel consumption test v1". The peak torque is 255 Newton meters.
