Ben van den Bogaert (born December 8, 1989 ) is a Belgian ice hockey player who has been under contract with Phantoms Antwerp since 2010 and has played with the club in the Belgian-Dutch BeNe League since 2015 .

Career

Ben van den Bogaert began his career at Olympia Heist op den Berg , where he made his debut in the Belgian honor division at the age of 16 . In 2010 he won the Belgian cup competition with his club . Despite this success, he left Olympia and joined the Phantoms Antwerp . Despite being relegated in 2011, he remained loyal to the Phantoms and, following an immediate rise again in 2012, was able to win the Belgian championship title with the team in 2015 . In the same year he was also the top scorer in the Belgian cup competition. Since 2015 he has been playing with the Antwerp team in the newly founded Belgian-Dutch BeNe League .

International

For Belgium van den Bogaert took part in the junior division of the U18 World Championships in 2006 and 2007 in Division II and the U20 World Championships in 2007 in Division III and in 2008 and 2009 in Division II.

Van den Bogaert played for the men's national team for the first time at the World Championship of Division II in 2009 . It then took seven years until he was nominated again for the 2016 World Cup in Division II. Together with the Dutchmen Kevin Bruijsten , Raphaël Joly and Alan van Bentem, he was the second best scorer behind their compatriot Erik Tummers . He was also the second best goalscorer behind Bruijsten and was voted the best striker of the tournament. Also in 2017 and 2018 he played in Division II.
