Benthiavalicarb is a chemical compound from the group of benzothiazoles , carbamates and valinamides . The fungicide was developed by Kumiai Chemical and Ihara and introduced as a crop protection product in 2005.

Extraction and presentation

Benthiavalicarbisopropyl can be obtained by reacting isopropyl chloroformate with L- valine and reacting the intermediate product formed with 2- (1-aminoethyl) -6-fluorobenzothiazole.

properties

Benthiavalicarb is a white, odorless solid. It is stable to hydrolysis at pH values of 4, 7 and 9.

use

Benthiavalicarb and its derivatives such as benthiavalicarb-isopropyl [mixture of ( R ) and ( S ) isomers] are used as a fungicide. The effect is due to inhibition of phospholipid - biosynthesis .

Admission

The active ingredient was included in Appendix I of Directive 91/414 / EEC on August 1, 2008 and is therefore considered permissible in the European Union.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, plant protection products (e.g. Valbon ) with this active ingredient are approved.
