Bernard Northern Reedy (born December 31, 1991 in St. Petersburg , Florida ; nickname: Speedy Reedy ) is an American American football and Canadian football player. He played in the position of wide receiver and return specialist for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League (NFL). Since 2020 he has been under contract with the Calgary Stampeders from the Canadian Football League .

Reedy is considered a very fast player who has the talent to break out of cover.

Career

college

From 2010 to 2013 Reedy attended the University of Toledo , where he played college football for the Toledo Rockets . In his freshman year he caught five passes for 32 yards and eight runs with 35 yards and two touchdowns . As a sophomore , he was a starter. He caught 40 passes for 738 yards and nine touchdowns. In the 42:41 win against the Army in the Military Bowl , he was elected MVP.

As a junior he was elected to the first team All- MAC in the position of punt returner and wide receiver and to the second team All-MAC as a kick returner . He caught 88 passes for 1,113 yards and six touchdowns. He returned a punt and three kickoffs for a touchdown. Reedy was named MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week for three consecutive weeks . In the game against the Eastern Michigan Eagles , he set the school record for all-purpose yardage with 406 yards (gained space by running, catching and returning).

In total, he caught 195 passes for 2,743 yards and 23 touchdowns and ran 30 times for 153 yards and two touchdowns. He carried 76 kickoffs for 1,800 yards and three touchdowns, 29 punts for 317 yards and one touchdown.

NFL

After Reedy was not selected in the 2014 NFL Draft , the Atlanta Falcons signed him . He spent the 2014 season on the Practice Squad and was fired after the 2015 preseason .

On February 4, 2016, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Reedy. Due to an injury, he was released after the preseason. In December 2016 he was re-engaged for the Practice Squad and later even promoted to the main squad. However, he saw no playing time. In the following season he made the jump into the 53-man squad from the start. He was the primary punt returner . He returned 14 punts for 143 yards and seven kickoffs for 145 yards.

On November 22, 2017, the New England Patriots signed Reedy for their Practice Squad. He was named to the active squad on December 2, 2017 and scored four punt returns for 32 yards in two games. He was released after the two games. He was re-signed on January 17, 2018 and made it to Super Bowl LII with the Patriots . On March 7, 2018, Reedy was released.

On May 23, 2018, the Buccaneers signed Reedy again. He was released on September 2, 2018.

On October 2, 2018, the Arizona Cardinals signed Reedy for their Practice Squad. He was released after two weeks.

On November 6, 2018, Reedy was recruited by the Buccaneers for the Practice Squad.

XFL

In early January 2020, Reedy was signed by the New York Guardians from the XFL . He was released on January 22, 2020.

CFL

On March 20, 2020, the Calgary Stampeders signed Reedy.

Personal

After his release from the Falcons, he began working as an ambulance driver for an aid organization. He will continue this activity during the offseason .
