Location of Biburg in Bavaria

Biburg is a district of the Markt Nennslingen in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen with about 130 inhabitants.

The church village is located on a plateau of the Franconian Alb , southeast of Nennslingen at an altitude of 560 meters above sea level. The district road WUG 32 leads through Biburg, which becomes district road EI 47 not far to the east . Half a kilometer as the crow flies in an easterly direction is the border with the Upper Bavarian district of Eichstätt . The easternmost point of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district is near Biburg.

history

Biburg once belonged to the Franconian royal estate around Weißenburg in Bavaria . Until the municipal reform in Bavaria in the 1970s, Biburg was an independent municipality in the Hilpoltstein district, which was also dissolved .
