Big Time Rush (also known as BTR ) is an American band who became known among viewers of the Nickelodeon channel for their series of the same name .
Band history
Initially, after the auditions for the television series Big Time Rush, the cast was a little different. Logan Henderson, Carlos Pena and James Maslow played their current roles, but the role of (later) Kendall was occupied by Curt Hansen (so the role was called Curt). Therefore, he was also a member of the band at the same time. After he and the other three recorded the songs Famous and This Is Our Someday for the first episode, which was also shot with him, he was replaced by Kendall Schmidt , who also took part in the series, due to unexplained circumstances . So the shoot and the recordings had to be repeated. Since the songs that were recorded with him were not released, he does not officially count as a former member of the band. In 2009, the television program Big Time Rush started on the television channel Nickelodeon USA . On April 24, 2010 the series also started in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition to shooting the series, the four guys actually recorded songs and in 2009 their first single, Big Time Rush , was released, but it was unsuccessful because it was not in the US charts. After their second single Any Kind Of Guy also failed to make it into the US charts, their third single Halfway There made it to number 93 on the US charts .
The band made appearances at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and one at the 2010 Teen Choice Awards .
October 2010 her first studio album BTR was released , which was also her greatest success. It hit the charts in ten different states and made it to number 3 on the Billboard 200. It was awarded a gold record in the US for 500,000 copies sold . By April 2011 the band had sold over 1.5 million records.
On February 8, 2011, the single Boyfriend was released , which Big Time Rush sang with Snoop Dogg . With the exception of the song, the single featured the album version of Boyfriend and the music video. The single was the second most successful single from Big Time Rush . It was in the charts in Germany , Austria , Great Britain and the USA and was the first single that was not only on the Billboard Hot 100 . The song made Big Time Rush better known internationally, including in Germany.
Their second album Elevate was released in November 2011. At the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, Big Time Rush went to concerts and TV appearances in Germany. On February 17, 2012, Big Time Rush went on their first real tour, called Better With U Tour , which only went through the United States. The British band One Direction was the opening act on the tour . From July 5 to September 18, 2012, another 52 concerts were given in the USA and Canada as part of a summer tour.
