The Diocese of Ciego de Ávila ( lat. : Dioecesis Caeci Abulensis ) is an on Cuba situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Ciego de Ávila .

San Eugenio Cathedral

The diocese of Ciego de Ávila was established on February 2, 1996 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Universale Ecclesiae from cessions of territory from the diocese of Camagüey . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Camagüey as a suffragan . The first bishop was Mario Eusebio Mestril Vega .
