The Archdiocese of Camagüey ( lat. : Archidioecesis Camagueyensis ) is an on Cuba situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Camagüey .

history

With the Apostolic Constitution Quae catholicae religioni, Pope Pius X founded the Diocese of Camagüey on December 10, 1912 from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Santiago de Cuba . On February 2, 1996 it lost part of the territory to the diocese of Ciego de Ávila .

With the Apostolic Constitution Maiori spirituali it was elevated to an archbishopric and metropolitan diocese on December 5, 1998 .
