The Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina ( Latin Archidioecesis crotonensis-Sanctae Severinae , Italian Arcidiocesi di Crotone-Santa Severina ) is in Italy situated Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Crotone .
history
In the 6th century the diocese of Crotone was established and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria as a suffragan . The seminary of the Diocese of Crotone was established in 1664. On June 27, 1818, the diocesan area of the dissolved diocese of Isola (later titular diocese of Isola ) was added to him.
Since December 21, 1973, the Diocese of Crotone and the Archdiocese of Santa Severina were administered in personal union. On September 30, 1986, the Archdiocese of Santa Severina was annexed to the Diocese of Crotone by the Congregation for the Bishops with the decree Instantibus votis . The Archdiocese of Crotone-Santa Severina was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Catanzaro-Squillace on January 30, 2001 as a suffragan.
