The Safari song is loud Josh Kiszka an ode to love the musicians for blues -music. The lyrics would have been written in a narrative style, since the lyrics "would have been written this way for many of the best blues songs". The title comes from the fact that while listening to the music, singer Josh Kiszka thought of a “mixture of jungle music and blues” and this reminded him of a safari . The theme song Black Smoke Rising deals with the fact that people don't always learn from mistakes in history. According to Josh Kiszka, wars, tyrants of yesteryear, and innocent victims raise the question of what these things mean.
