Emergence

In October 2017 the band announced the release of the double EP From the Fires . The EP consists of eight tracks, including the four tracks from the Black Smoke Rising EP ( Safari Song , Flower Power , Highway Tune and Black Smoke Rising ), which was released on April 21, 2017. For From the Fires, the band recorded their own compositions Edge of Darkness and Talk on the Street as well as cover versions of the songs A Change Is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke from Meet on the Ledge by Fairport Convention in September 2017 . After the release of Black Smoke Rising , the musicians felt that the EP wasn't ready and so they recorded four more tracks for From the Fires .

All eight tracks were recorded at Rustbelt Studios in Royal Oak . Was produced From the Fires of Al Sutton & Marlon Young, who already EP Black Smoke Rising have produced. Anyone who bought the EP Black Smoke Rising through iTunes could buy the four new songs at a lower price. For the song Highway Tune one was music video filmed in an abandoned warehouse.

All eight titles deal with the topic of humanity . The idea for the album title and the album cover came from singer Joshua "Josh" Kiszka. He remembered camping at Michigan's Yankee Springs Recreation Area every summer with his family . In the evening, all family members would have sat around a campfire , made music and told stories together. In the old days people would regularly gather around campfires in the evenings and the elders would tell fables about wisdom and courage.

A Change Is Gonna Come was originally written by Sam Cooke. It was triggered by an incident in Shreveport , Louisiana in 1963, when Cooke telephone reserved a hotel room for himself and his wife. Upon arrival, the African American musician was told that there were no more rooms available. Cooke complained loudly and was taken into custody by police . According to Kiszka, this song will be more topical than ever in 2017. Black Smoke Rising is about the fact that people don't always learn from history.

For Gerrod Harris of Spill Magazine , From the Fires is an “excellent starting point for new fans”, as the playing time for the length of the album ensures “captivating listening pleasure”. In addition, the EP would be "one of the most exciting releases by a new rock band this year". The hype surrounding the band would be “more than justified” and let the listeners “eagerly await the band's future”. Harris awarded four out of five points. For Gerrit Köppl from the German magazine Visions “the youngsters deliver flawless hard and classic rock from the textbook”. The EP would be "a great bow to the greats". The future wouldn't look so bright for the band if future releases continued to climb the Stairway to Heaven .
