iHeartRadio Music Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The iHeartRadio Music Awards is an American music award that has been presented annually since 2014. It was launched by the US radio station iHeartRadio to honor the most famous artists and songs of the previous year. Only the music played by the radio and the artist are taken into account.

history

The first iHeartRadio Music Awards ceremony was held on May 1, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and was broadcast live on NBC . In the first edition, the singer Rihanna was able to win the most awards. There was no moderator at the first event. The second awards, however, were moderated by Jamie Foxx . This event also took place in the Shrine Auditorium. Taylor Swift won three awards, the most. In 2016 the venue changed. The third iHeart Radio Music Awards took place at The Forum in Inglewood and were hosted by musician Jason Derulo . Again, Swift won the most awards. The fourth edition took place again on March 5, 2017 at The Forum in Inglewood.

Determination of nominations

The nominations are based on the values of the internal iHeartRadio charts . This includes listeners' opinions, radio airplay , streaming , sales and tags at Shazam and BigChampagne . The 20 best-placed artists on the iHeartRadio charts are announced weekly in a two-hour radio broadcast. The data is evaluated by the company Mediabase . There are also categories in which the respective winners are determined by open voting.
