Austin Carter Mahone (born April 4, 1996 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American pop singer who made a name for himself in 2011 with a few cover songs on the video platform YouTube .

Life

Austin Mahone lives in a town near Miami in the US state of Florida , his previous residence was San Antonio in the US state of Texas .

Mahone's father died when Austin was 16 months old. His mother Michele Mahone raised him alone in Seguin . After entering into a second marriage, the family moved to La Vernia . There he met Alexander Ruben Constancio. After the divorce, mother and son moved back to San Antonio in 2011 , where he attended Lady Bird Johnsen High School. Because of disciplinary problems at school, his mother signed him up for distance learning . It is thus possible for him to take part in web-based trainings from any location . He and his mother moved to Florida in early May 2012 to better connect with his manager.

Career

In June 2010 Mahone and Constancio started to publish self-made comedy videos on the video platform YouTube. In January 2011 Mahone started its own music channel on YouTube. In his videos, he mainly covered songs by Justin Bieber , Bruno Mars and Adele . He plays guitar , drums and keyboards . Mahone has been managed by Rocco Valdes and Brian Spiro since 2012. Mahone also stars in the teen series Big Time Rush . He makes his living mainly from merchandising , small concerts and selling his songs on iTunes .

Austin Mahones first single 11:11 of his day was Valentine's Day - concert on February 14, 2012, iTunes released. The original song was released in summer 2011 by Jakub Andrew, singer of the US-American band HeyHiHello from Ohio , under the title Eleven Eleven and later assigned to Mahone with all necessary rights . The song was sung by Mahone in a Los Angeles recording studio in January 2012 and later promoted on Twitter . On the day of its release, his single entered the iTunes US Top 100 charts and stayed in these charts for almost a week . By June 2012, the single had already been bought almost 100,000 times on iTunes.

On May 22, 2012, a concert by radio station Q102 took place in Philadelphia , where he performed in front of over 15,000 visitors.

His second single was released on June 5, 2012 under the title Say Somethin and also entered the iTunes charts. The song was written by Bei Maejor and Mike Posner and produced in a Miami studio.

On August 28, 2012 Mahone signed a recording contract with the joint venture - Label Chase Records / Universal Republic Records with a value equal to a single digit million amount.

The third single Say You're Just a Friend was sung by Mahone with Flo Rida . It has been available on iTunes in America since December 3, 2012 . The fourth single What About Love was released on June 10, 2013 and became its first hit on the Billboard Hot 100 . For this Mahone received an award at the MTV Video Music Awards ( Artist to Watch ) in the same year . His fifth single Banga! Banga! (feat. Sean Garett) was released on November 10th, the accompanying video on December 11th, 2013. The sixth single, Mmm Yeah (feat. Pitbull), was released in January 2014 and became Mahones' first international hit.

At the Ultra Music Festival 2017, the Dutch DJ and producer Hardwell premiered the collaborative single Creatures of the Night . The Future Bass song was released as a single on May 12, 2017.

Trivia

In November 2011, Mahone made his debut on the Billboard Social 50 chart at number 38 with his cover version of Justin Bieber's Mistletoe . At this point, he was the youngest singer to make it onto the list. In early December it even reached number 28 on the Billboard charts.

In October 2011, Mahone wanted to meet some fans in Chicago's Millennium Park . He assumed around 50 fans would come. When he arrived at the agreed meeting point, about 1,000 supporters stormed him, whereupon the event had to be canceled by the local police. Since then, the police have forbidden him to hold public meetings without prior notification and without a bodyguard . The family organized Dave Brytus as a personal bodyguard for his concerts in New York and Aurora .

At the end of August 2012, Mahone had 1,050,000 followers on Twitter , 770,000 fans on Facebook and 450,000 subscribers on YouTube . Mahone is among the top 100 musicians with the most subscription on YouTube. Mahone is the most popular character in the social network of the Keek portal , sorted by views .

Mahone offered its fans until his move to Florida in May every Friday afternoon local time ( UTC -6) a free online concert on live streaming - Web portal Ustream to that of his fans also Austream, a combination of his first name and Ustream, is called.

Austin was managed by his mother until the contract with his management in Miami was signed. His fans call themselves Mahomies. Mahone operates a portal for them with merchandise items.
