Peter and Bobby Farrelly
The brothers Peter John Farrelly (born December 17, 1956 in Phoenixville , Pennsylvania , United States ) and Robert Leo "Bobby" Farrelly Jr. (born June 17, 1958 in Cumberland , Rhode Island , United States) are American screenwriters and film producers and film directors , Peter is also a novelist .
Life
In 1980 the brothers started writing screenplays. In 1990 they sold two episodes for the television series Seinfeld . Almost four years later, the breakthrough came with the comedy Dumm und Dumber in 1994, which grossed 200 million dollars worldwide and made the actor Jim Carrey famous. After the less successful comedy Kingpin (1996) they achieved another success with the blockbuster Crazy About Mary in 1998. This was followed by films like Me, Both & Her and Schwer in Love and the comedy Inseparable (2003). In 2005 they made the love comedy A Man for a Season with Drew Barrymore and in 2007 After 7 Days - Flittered Out . In 2011 they released the comedy Everything Allowed - A Week Without Rules . Since the 1990s, both had been working on a film adaptation of The Three Stooges , which was released in 2012.
In 2013, Peter Farrelly directed Movie 43 for the first time without his brother. In 2018 he directed the film Green Book - A Special Friendship through the acquaintance of an Italian-American chauffeur with a well-known Afro-American musician. The film was successful with critics and audiences and won the Oscar for Best Picture , and Farrelly also won the Oscar for Best Screenplay .
