Werner Bodendorff

Werner Bodendorff (* 1958 in Radolfzell ) is a German oboist, musicologist (with a focus on Franz Schubert , Werner Egk , church and brass music ) and writer .

Career

After graduating from high school, he studied oboe and conducting at the Leopold Mozart Conservatory as well as musicology , philosophy and history in Augsburg . In 1993 he received his doctorate from the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . From 1994 to 2003 he was a research assistant to Ernst Hilmar at the International Franz Schubert Institute (IFSI) in Vienna and in the Commission for Music Research of the Austrian Academy of Sciences , then a scholarship from the Fund for the Promotion of Scientific Research (FWF) , Vienna. From 1998 to 2005 he was a lecturer for instrumental lessons at the Werner Egk Music School in Donauwörth , and from the winter semester 2000 to the summer semester 2004 he also held a teaching position for music history at the University of Music in Augsburg.

Bodendorff is currently working as a music critic for Kieler Nachrichten , a freelance journalist and conductor of the Plön Symphony Orchestra . In addition, he works as a freelance reviewer, essayist , author of scientific articles and fiction books, especially on Franz Schubert , Werner Egk and the history of brass music. He is also the author of numerous lexicon articles and short biographies, publisher of church music works by Schubert and Salieri in the Carus publishing house and is also active as a musician and arranger.
