Bonifaz Locher
Bonifaz Locher (born November 17, 1858 in Winterreute, today part of Biberach an der Riss ; † October 27, 1916 in Munich ) was a German painter , fresco artist and wall painter.
Life
Bonifaz Locher completed his training at the drawing school in Biberach an der Riss and the art school Rottenburg am Neckar . Then studied at the Royal Academy in Munich with Alexander Strähuber , Alexander von Wagner , Wilhelm Lindenschmit and Andreas Müller . His teacher Andreas Müller remained formative for Locher's works, which are part of academic history painting. So he painted his first frescoes based on his designs. He often worked with the architect Hugo von Höfl . Locher was not receptive to the neo-baroque style and left the Nazarene style behind. He was a member of the Munich Association for Christian Art .
