Boris Andrij Gudziak (born November 24, 1960 in Syracuse , United States ) is a clergyman of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and Archbishop of Philadelphia .

Life

The auxiliary bishop in Lviv , Ljubomyr Husar MSU , ordained him on August 14, 1998 as a deacon and the bishop of Ivano-Frankivsk , Sofron Stefan Mudry OSBM , ordained him on November 26, 1998 as a priest . From 2002 to 2012 he was the rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University . He has written over 50 works on church history.

On July 21, 2012 he was received by Pope Benedict XVI. Appointed Titular Bishop of Carcabia and Apostolic Exarch of France , and he was instituted on December 2 of the same year. The Grand Archbishop of Kiev-Halych , Svyatoslaw Shevchuk , consecrated him on August 26th of the same year as bishop ; Co- consecrators were Ihor Wosnjak CSsR , Archbishop of Lviv , and Hlib Lonchyna MSU, Apostolic Exarch of Great Britain . With the elevation to the eparchy Saint Vladimir le Grand de Paris on January 19, 2013 he was appointed its first bishop.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Philadelphia on February 18, 2019. The inauguration took place on June 4th of the same year.
