The Brühlbach is a main stream about three and a half kilometers long in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the Fischach from the right and west near the Obersontheim hamlet of Herlebach . Its right source stream is called Eschertalbach , its left one flows in the Wolfsklinge .

geography

Headwaters

The upper reaches of the Brühlbach arise up to 2.7 km west-southwest of the Obersontheimer hamlet Herlebach in the northern part of the Limpurger Mountains , where the wooded plateau east of the coal road already slopes slightly to the east. There are three large source streams, only one of which has a proper name on the official waterway map. This right Eschertalbach arises near the forest of carbon road to the timber level to less than 490  m above sea level. NHN in the southeastern Kohlschnäue and flows after about 1.1 km northeast through the Eschertal at right angles with its left counterpart from the southwestern Wolfsklinge at less than 430  m above sea level. NHN together, which in turn in the northwestern Kohlschnäue produced little deeper and is almost as long and the basin rich. Already a little more than a hundred meters further down the valley on the course of the Brühlbach , which was created in this way and which continues the east-northeast flow direction of the left Quellbach , an unstable third Quellbach runs above it from the left from the western Wolfsklinge , which is followed by the forest path from the Michelbacher Försterdenkmal on the Kohlenstraße to the Lotthaus .

Further course

A little further a hundred meters, the Brühlbach emerges from the forest at a small hikers' car park at Obersontheim- Herlebacher Lotthaus. On the remaining two kilometers it flows, accompanied almost to the end by a tree gallery, now in a small and damp meadow hollow. From the Lotthaus to a little before the creek bridge of Einkornstraße K 2599, the coniferous hillside forest below the mountain spur of the forest level meets the right bank, after which there are almost only alders on its winding course. Several protected wet meadows line its corridor . Flowing more and more to the west, the brook finally reaches the edge of the settlement of Obersontheimer at the hinge between the mostly younger northern parts of Herlebach's settlement in the upward confluence and the southern in the downstream Fischachtal. Here the gallery breaks off and the last less than fifty meters he is led in a curved art run next to house gardens to the acute-angled confluence with the Fischach , into which he is below 410  m above sea level. NHN next to the bridge on Fischachtalstraße K 2627 pours.

Catchment area

The Brühlbach has a catchment area of 3.5 km² in size, which, after initially widening rapidly, extends from its westernmost point on the spur of the Michelbacher Kohlhäus in the western eaves of the Limpurger Mountains about 3.5 km, then tapers in a wedge shape to the east-northeast to his Mouth extends; across it it is a maximum of about 1.7 km wide. The left of the two higher upper reaches from the Wolfsklinge , which, unlike the Eschertalbach, continues without a bend in the Brühlbach lower reaches, along with it, roughly draws the center line.

The most striking watershed is on the western edge of the catchment area to the steep Kocher valley cut on the plateau of the Limpurger mountains , roughly on the route of the coal road forest path that runs through it in a southerly direction at heights of up to 503  m above sea level. NHN ( Kohlhäu ) and mostly over 495  m above sea level. NHN ; only in the area of the saddle at the Michelbacher Försterdenkmal does it drop in sections to 475  m above sea level. NHN . Its south-western part runs towards the catchment area of the Adelbach and its tributary Taubenbach , its north-eastern part against that of Michelbach and - shorter - from Remsbach , all three of which run directly to the Kocher . Its northern border separates the catchment area of the upstream Fischach tributary Lembach , which runs roughly parallel on the other side of the eastward sloping Hörles and a flatter threshold in the Rossnagel Gewann that continues this spur . On its south-east side, a short meadow ditch competes in the flat valley to the right of the Fischach; further uphill to the west it borders on the long forest level and the forest swamp , mostly at an altitude of 480  m above sea level. NHN lie, the catchment area of the next more important Fischach tributary Lustbach , which also runs approximately parallel to the east.

From a natural point of view, the catchment area lies in the northern Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains (main unit no. 108), with the significantly larger, wooded portion of around 2.8 km² in the west in its sub-area Limpurger Berge (unit no. 108.60), with the smaller ones in the east in the flat estuary bay that opens from the Lotthaus in its lower area Fischachbucht and edge heights (unit no. 108.61), in which there are just over 3 hectares of Herlebach settlement area.

About 0.7 km² of forest on the western northern edge of the Hörle-Sporn almost down to the Wolfsklinge belong to Schwäbisch Hall , another 1.6 km² of forest to the west of Michelbach an der Bilz . The remaining 1.2 km² in the east, including the entire open area, especially the eastern part of the forest level , lie on the Oberfischach submarket of Obersontheim . In addition to parts of the Herlebach estuary, the Lotthaus residential area is also located in the catchment area, a detached house behind trees on the left above the not very deep creek basin immediately after the Brühlbach forest emerges.

NN just in the forest about 100 meters southwest of the hiking car park at the Lotthaus, 0.5 km and about 0.9 km². Arises near the forest path from the forester's monument to the Lotthaus, at times noticeably further away from the mouth.
  • Inconsistent ditch inflow, from the left and northwest to around 416  m above sea level. NHN immediately after the Einkornstrasse bridge (K 2599).
  • Drainage ditch, from the right and southwest to below 420  m above sea level. NN a little later, 0.2 km. Is the flow of a RiverIcon-SmallLake.svgsmall pond fed by a slope spring behind trees on the right foot of the slope close to Einkornstrasse.

Mouth M of the Brühlbach in Herlebach at the Bachbrücke of the Fischachtalstraße (K 2627) from the right and finally west into the Fischach . The brook is 2.3 km long from the confluence of its two source brooks, 3.4 km from the origin of the longer Eschertal brook and drains a catchment area of 3.5 km².

geology

The Brühlbach and its source branches and tributaries run in the Mittelkeuper . The sources of the two upper courses lie in the border area of the silica sandstone ( Hassberge Formation ) that covers the plateau of the Limpurger Mountains and the lower colored marls below ( Steigerwald Formation ). Down the valley they run over a reed sandstone step ( Stuttgart Formation ), recognizable by a slope , before they unite in the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ), in which the Brühlbach remains for almost the rest of the course, before it finally enters the flood sediment of the wide Fischachaue flows out.

On the left of the middle course there are two conspicuous small knolls on both sides of the road to Einkorn , one on the southern tip of the Geißholz that can be overlooked by the forest and another east-opposite of the road in the Rossnagel corridor . In shape and vegetation, this shows the typical character of a residual hill in the gypsum keuper above a base gypsum lens, it rises like a helmet from the surrounding area and the trees of an orchard on its western slope show saber growth. Opposite to the south of the Brühlbach, the slope of the forest level shows restless slopes.

nature and landscape

The course of the Brühlbach stream is almost everywhere unpopulated and has remained very close to nature. The upper courses in the forest meander through the mostly flat valley sections as less than a meter wide courses, immediately accompanied by alders and ash trees. After entering the corridor, the stream becomes a little wider and mostly runs on both sides, accompanied by an alder gallery and more or less wide strips of moist meadows in a not very deep hollow. On the short section between the exit from the forest and the Lotthaus, which is now almost hidden behind a belt of trees, 30 to 40 years ago there was a stock of Märzen cups on a meadow at the edge of the forest ; after excavations and afforestation in the meadow, the population soon died out. Around 2009, the alder stock accompanying the stream was heavily thinned from the bridge on Einkornstrasse downwards.

The entire land area of the catchment area, minus the small area shares of the estuary, belongs to the Fischachtal landscape protection area with side valleys and adjacent areas between Herlebach and Kottspiel . There are several wet meadows protected as biotopes, mostly close to the run, some field hedges and a structured forest edge in Rossnagel on the northern edge of the corridor.

Close to the watershed to the south-west, in the Kohlschnäue on the edge of the coal road, opposite a pool, there is a damp hollow, mostly flooded in winter, with a small scrub forest dominated by alder and ash trees.
