Branko Jorović ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бранко Јоровић ; born November 27, 1981 in Čačak , SR Serbia ) is a Serbian basketball player . Jorović was a participant in the 2006 World Cup for Serbia and Montenegro , where he suffered a persistent back injury and then did not play a championship game for almost two years. After stints in his home country and Greece , Jorović played in the 2011/12 BBL season with the New York Phantoms from Braunschweig in the German basketball league . He then won three championships and two cup competitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the KK Igokea . Most recently Jorović played in Romania for the CSU Cluj-Napoca.
Career
Jorović first played until 2003 at Borac club in his hometown. He then moved to the Serbian capital Belgrade to the then Serbian-Montenegrin Cup winner Železnik , who competed from 2003 to 2005 under the sponsor name KK Reflex . The cup victory was repeated in 2005, and in 2004 and 2006 he won the title in the supranational Adriatic Basketball League (ABA) . In the squad of the defending champions Serbia and Montenegro Jorović took part in the 2006 World Cup in Japan , where he sustained a back injury. This injury prevented the planned move to CB Akasvayu Girona in the Spanish ACB league . There he was to play under the Serbian coach Svetislav Pešić together with Marko Marinović , his one and a half years younger, also born in Čačak, long-time teammate for Borac, Železnik and the national team at the 2006 World Cup. In January 2007 he still moved to Red Star Belgrade for But he did not play a game in the course of the year before he left the club in December 2007.
At the beginning of 2008 he wanted to try a comeback at KK Hemofarm from Vršac , but finally went to Patras in Greece and initially played six games for Olympiada in A1 Ethniki , which were relegated to the bottom of the table at the end of the season from the top Greek division. In April 2008 he finally moved to Vršac, but to KK Lions, who moved to Kragujevac as Radnički a year later . Jorović himself did not come to Kragujevac, but joined his hometown club Borac in November 2009, which now also played in the top national league. In the 2010/11 season he returned to the Greek A1 Ethniki and played for EK Kavalas, who were able to qualify for the play-offs for the championship. For the 2011/12 season he signed a contract with the New York Phantoms in the German BBL. After a stubborn bruise at the beginning of the season, which had to be treated surgically, Jorović was initially only able to secure a small portion of the game before he was allowed to take on more responsibility after injuries to teammates. In the end, they reached the semi-finals in the German Cup and another place in the play-offs in the championship. There they remained without a win against the later runner-up ratiopharm ulm and were eliminated.
For the season 2012/13 Jorović went to KK Igokea Alekandrovac from the Opština Laktaši in the Republika Srpska , who surprisingly reached first place in his second participation in the ABA League after the main round. At the Final Four tournament of the ABA League 2012/13 , however, they lost the semi-finals in front of their home crowd against defending champion KK Partizan Belgrade . In the following Eurocup 2013/14 they were eliminated early after only three wins in ten preliminary round games and also missed another final tournament participation in the Adria League and thus a qualification for a continental club competition. After successfully defending the title in the Bosnian championship in 2014, the team again won a double in 2015 after winning the title in the championship and cup competition. Then Jorović left the club at the age of 34 and played in the 2015/16 season at his home club KK Borac before joining the Romanian club from Cluj-Napoca .
