The Breite Grießkogel (or Breite Grieskogel ) is 3287 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Stubai Alps east of Längenfeld in Tyrol .
geography
The Breite Grießkogel lies east of the Ötztal above Gries in the Sulztal between the Horlachtal in the north and the Sulztal in the south. In the northwest, the Grasstallferner flows from the summit of the Breiten Grießkogel down into the Grasstalltal, a side valley of the Horlachtal. To the north lies Strahlkogel , behind the Larstigtal . In the east, the Grießkogelferner flows down to the Zwiselbachjoch ( 2870 m ), a transition into the Zwiselbachtal . In the southeast lies the Winnebachkar , to the south a ridge extends to the 2914 m high goose collar . To the southwest, the Breite Grießkogel slopes down with steep rock faces to the Grießkar .
Two weather stations are installed on the mountain: there is a snow measuring station at an altitude of 2385 m, and a wind measuring system near the summit at 3282 m. Both systems are operated by the Tirol Avalanche Warning Service .
ways
The mountain is climbed from the Zwiselbachjoch as an alpine tour with contact with the glacier ( UIAA I ), whereby the Joch can be reached from Gries in the Sulztal ( 1569 m ) via the Winnebachseehütte ( 2362 m ) or from the Schweinfurter Hütte ( 2028 m ) in the Zwiselbachtal. This ascent is also a popular ski tour , especially in spring , as is the route from the northwest over the Grasstallferner (UIAA I). Alternatively, you can also choose the ascent over the Larstig valley and the Larstigscharte ( 3032 m ) to the Grießkogelferner. Via the Salchenscharte ( 2778 m ) in the west, the Breite Grießkogel can be reached both from the Grasstalltal in the north and from the anterior Sulztal in the south without touching the glacier (UIAA II), but this variant has no paths and has only been completely free of ice for a few years. The south wall also has difficulty level II.
