Brian Garrow (born April 8, 1968 in Santa Clara , California ) is a retired American tennis player .

Life

Garrow was defeated in 1986 at the junior tournament of the US Open in the first round Michael Stich . He studied at the University of California, Los Angeles and won the double title with Patrick Galbraith at the NCAA championships in 1988 . In the same year he was in the individual finals of the NCAA, in which he was defeated by Robbie Weiss . Overall, he was voted three times in the best selection All-American .

In 1988 he became a professional tennis player, the following year he won the singles title of the ATP Challenger tournament from Winnetka and three Challenger doubles titles. His biggest success that year, however, was the double title on the ATP World Tour , which he won alongside Patrick Galbraith in Newport . In 1990 he won his second and last double title on the ATP World Tour in Rio De Janeiro , and he was also in the finals of two other ATP tournaments. He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1992 with position 92 in singles and in 1991 position 42 in doubles.

His best individual results at a Grand Slam tournament were first round participation at the Australian Open , Wimbledon and the US Open. In the doubles competition he reached the semifinals of the US Open in 1990. At the side of Sven Salumaa he was defeated in five sets to the later tournament winners Pieter Aldrich and Danie Visser .
