Brian Greene (born August 30, 1981 in Thornton , Colorado ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his native US state , he played as a professional mainly in Belgium and France . In 2008 he was under contract with the German Bundesliga club Köln 99ers for a few months .
Career
During his studies at the Colorado State University in Fort Collins Greene was for the high school team Rams in the Mountain West Conference of the NCAA active Division I. He is among the top ten in the Rams' annals for points scored, rebounds and ball wins . In his senior year 2003, the Rams won the conference championship after a long break, leaving renowned teams such as the Utah Utes of the University of Utah , UNLV Rebels and BYU Cougars behind. In the first round of the nationwide finals , they were eliminated from the highly regarded Duke Blue Devils .
Greene then moved to Europe as a professional and played after a few games in Poland from 2003 to 2005 for the Belgian basketball club from Liège . After another season in neighboring Verviers , he moved to the French first division club ASVEL in Lyon in 2006 . After a season he moved back to his home country and played in the NBA Development League for the 14ers from his home in Colorado. In February 2008 he returned to Europe and played the season for the Cologne 99ers who had run into economic difficulties. The following season he played for the French first division club Entente Loiret from Orléans . With the club, which was promoted in 2006, he and his teammates each became a finalist in the French league cup Semaine de As and in the play-off for the championship, which was lost to his former club ASVEL. The following season he returned to the Belgian Ethias League for the Flemish club Okapi from Aalst , having previously played in the French-speaking Wallonia . After a season in which he led the Belgian league as a top scorer with almost 17 points per game, he moved to the series champion Spirou BC in Charleroi , with whom he was able to defeat the German representative Alba Berlin in qualifying for the ULEB Euroleague 2010/11 for the first time in many years the participation in the top European league ULEB Euroleague for a Belgian club. In the first group stage, however, they ended up in last place behind the German champions Brose Baskets and were eliminated. Nationally, the team again won the Belgian championship in 2011 in the play-off final against Greene's former club Okapi Aalstar. For the 2011/12 season he is returning to Orléans, which is now known as Orléans Loiret Basket .
