Bruce Boa

Bruce Boa (born July 10, 1930 in Calgary , Alberta , † April 17, 2004 in Surrey , England ) was a Canadian actor .

Life

Boa began his career in British television in the late 1950s and made his feature film debut in 1960 in the comedy Man in the Moon directed by Basil Dearden . In the 1960s he appeared in guest roles in a number of other British television productions; During this time he was only occasionally seen in feature films. From the mid-1970s he received more film engagements. By the late 1980s he played minor roles in numerous blockbusters, including The Omen , Superman , James Bond 007 - Octopussy and Full Metal Jacket . In The Empire Strikes Back , Boa was seen in a short scene at the beginning of the film as General Rieekan, who regretfully lets Han Solo go. He played bigger roles in Auf Messers Schneide at the side of Bill Murray , as well as in the television movie Golda Meir . He played a memorable role in 1979 in the sitcom Fawlty Towers as the American tourist Harry Hamilton. He made his last television appearance in 1997.

Boa died of cancer at the age of 73.
