Buchholz is a district of the town of Pritzwalk in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .

geography

The place is three kilometers south of Pritzwalk. The neighboring towns are Pritzwalk in the north, Neuhof and Neuhausen in the north-east, Sarnow in the east, Boddin in the south-east, Seefeld in the south, Groß Woltersdorf and Eggersdorf in the south-west, Kuhsdorf in the west, and Aufbau and Giesensdorf in the north-west.

history

The first written mention of Buchholz comes from the year 1312. In it the place was recorded under "Bucholdesche" chapel in front of Pritzwalk. Until 1816 the place belonged to the district of Pritzwalk in the province of Prignitz ; part of the Kurmark of the Mark Brandenburg and then came to the Ostprignitz district . From 1952 Buchholz belonged to the Pritzwalk district in the Potsdam district . Since December 6, 1993 the place is part of today's Prignitz district.

Buchholz has been part of Pritzwalk since it was incorporated on December 31, 2002. At that time the place had 483 inhabitants.

To the south of Buchholz, Deutsche Telekom AG operates a transmitter for VHF broadcasting . A 163 meter high, guyed steel truss mast is used as the antenna carrier.
