Economy and Infrastructure

On August 21, 2012, the company E.ON started building a pilot plant for storing wind power in the natural gas network. The pilot plant was put into operation at the end of August 2013. The power-to-gas system absorbs excess electricity generated by wind turbines that cannot be fed into the grid. The electricity is used to produce around 360 standard cubic meters (m³) of hydrogen per hour through alkali electrolysis , which are fed into the regional long-distance gas network.

traffic

Falkenhagen is on the Neustadt – Meyenburg railway line . The Falkenhagen (Prign) station was closed in 2007 and replaced by the new Falkenhagen Gewerbepark Prignitz stop about one kilometer to the north.
