The Burg Beverungen is a partially obtained Wasserburg at the Weser in Beverungen in Höxter .
history
In order to secure shipping on the Weser, the Paderborn bishop began building the moated castle in 1332 .
In 1632 the castle was almost completely destroyed by the Hessians and in 1650 reconstruction began. In 1860 it fell to the Count of Metternich and was destroyed a short time later. Restoration work began again in 1914.
In 1986 a chair museum was set up in the castle (since 2004 in Lauenförde ).
Today the castle is owned by the city of Beverungen.

The formerly encircled square castle complex on an area of approx. 12 by 20 meters consists of a five-storey, 27-meter-high rectangular residential tower made of quarry stone with a high sandstone roof and half-timbered gable extension with flat cornice.
