Megan's a perfect teenager : she's a top student, has been with Jared, the school's favorite football player, for two years, and goes to church regularly. It just doesn't fit into the picture that Megan eats a vegetarian diet and has pictures of women in her locker. Because that is why she is considered a lesbian by both her friends and her parents - just not by herself - and is sent to Mary Brown's rehabilitation camp "True Directions".
In the camp, homosexual youths are to become happy, straight people in a 5-step program . There Megan meets the rebellious Graham and falls in love with her during a secret nightly trip to a gay club. However, the relationship between the two main characters is exposed and breaks under the pressure of the camp leader and the families - Megan is expelled from school and is no longer allowed to live with her parents. She finds shelter in a shared flat with homosexuals who left "True Directions" prematurely.
Under pressure, Graham decides to “sleep” with Rock, the camp leader's gay son, for the final exam (a kind of sex simulation). But this love story also has a happy ending, as Megan shows up at the graduation ceremony and manages to convince Graham to come with her.

“The satire is unrestrained about all known homo- and hetero clichés: The boys should discover the strong man in themselves by chopping wood and reaching into their trousers, while the girls in pink babydoll costumes learn to wrap and clean. And the kitschy, colorful styling of the comedy increases the amusement at the grotesque homophobia of this aversion therapy - in the USA there are actually more than 200 such centers for revitalization. However, this isn't really a movie about gay love - even though Megan discovers lesbian feelings at camp. For the love story, the clichés and superficialities that director Jamie Babbit used and dissected so skilfully beforehand become the undoing: what should go to the heart, unfortunately, does not develop any depth. But the appearance of the gay icon RuPaul as a straight trainer easily makes up for the shortcoming. "
