CONCACAF Gold Cup 2011 / Group A

The Group A of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011 was one of three groups in which the group matches of the tournament were played. It consisted of four teams: Costa Rica , Mexico , Cuba and El Salvador . The games took place from June 5 to June 12, 2011. The venues were Dallas , Charlotte and Chicago .

Before the game between Mexico and Cuba, the Mexican Football Association Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación took five players from the squad. The reason for this was a positive doping test. The players Guillermo Ochoa , Francisco Rodríguez , Zinha , Christian Bermúdez and Édgar Dueñas tested positive for the drug Clenbuterol . It is currently believed that the players came into contact with the substance while eating chicken. The second sample was negative and Mexico was allowed to replace the suspended players.
