Cacavei ( Cacaven , Cacavem , Kakavei , Kakaven , Cacuvem , Kakavém ) is an East Timorese village and Suco in the administrative office of Lospalos ( Lautém municipality ).

The place

The village of Cacavei is located in the northwest of the Sucos at an altitude of 303  m . In the immediate vicinity of Cacavei are the settlements of Laiara , Maluro and Paihira . The settlement center has a primary school and a health station.

Cacavei has 974 inhabitants (2015), of which 454 are men and 520 women. The population density is 19.1 inhabitants / km². There are 205 households in the Suco. Almost 95% of the population name Fataluku as their mother tongue. Minorities Sa'ane , Makasae , Tetum Prasa , Tetum Terik and Makalero .

Before the 2015 territorial reform, Cacavei had an area of ​​50.50 km². Now it is 50.94 km². The Suco is located in the west of the Lospalos administrative office. In the north it borders on the Suco Leuro and on the northeast by the Suco Souro , on the southeast by the Suco Lore I . In the southwest is the administrative office Iliomar with its Suco Fuat and in the northwest the administrative office Lautém with the Suco Maina II .

The river Paunara , which has its sources in the Suco Souro, flows across the Suco from north to south . The river Ainarauteu, which rises in Cacavei, flows here from the west . At the southern border, the Paunara swings to the southeast and from here forms the border to Suco Fuat. After the Pirusoro meets the border river from Fuat, it changes its name to Namaluto . The southern part of the border between Cacavei and Souro forms the river Vahurau . As soon as it reaches the border with Lore I , it flows into the border river Tchino , which then flows further west along the border and finally flows into the Namaluto.

East of the settlement center of Cacavei are Choquiro and Vatalara , south of the town of Tcharano ( Charano ). The places are on the country road that connects the municipal capital Lospalos with Iliomar . To the east of the Paunara there are no longer any larger settlements in the Suco.

In Cacavei there are the four aldeias Laiara , Paihara , Solepara and Tcharano .

In the elections of 2004/2005 was José Marques elected Chefe de Suco and in 2009 re-elected.
