Caraubalo ( Caraubalu ) is an East Timorese Suco in the administrative office of Viqueque ( municipality of Viqueque ).

Before the 2015 regional reform, Caraubalo had an area of ​​83.38 km². Now there are 68.69 km². The Suco is in the east of the administrative office of Viqueque. To the east is the Suco Uai-Mori , to the southwest the Sucos Uma Quic and Uma Uain Craic , to the south the Sucos Maluru and Fatudere and southeast of the Suco Uma Uain Leten . In the north Caraubalo borders on the administrative office of Ossu with its Suco Loi-Huno and in the west on the administrative office of Uato-Lari with its Suco Macadique . The Cuha River flows through the west of Caraubalo . The Lagotua rises in the north and initially forms part of the border with Uma Uain Craic and later flows into the Cuha as Lee . The Bularan rises in the south and the Lugassa in the far east .

In the west of Caraubalo lies the municipality capital Viqueque on the Cuha, where the highways from east, west and north meet. All of the larger towns in Sucos are either districts or suburbs of Viqueques. These are Cabira Oan ( Cabirooan ), Mane Hat ( Manehat , German  "four men" ), Lamaclaran ( Lameklaran ), Siralari and Mamulac ( Mamulak ).

In the Suco there are the seven Aldeias Cabira Oan , Has Abut , Lamaclaran , Mamulac , Manehat , Siralari and Wessa .

In the Suco you can find carnelians , which are considered holy stones here. One adorns the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Viqueque .

Residents

The Suco has 6594 inhabitants (2015), of which 3319 are men and 3275 are women. The population density is 96.0 inhabitants / km². There are 1143 households in the Suco. Over 55% of the population name Tetum Terik as their mother tongue. Almost 26% speak Tetum Prasa , almost 11% Makasae , 4% Kairui , over 2% Naueti and minorities Midiki or Galoli .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Domingos da Costa was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections , Teodoro Osorio Pinto won .
